Impaired driver 'all wet'

A 22-year-old Kelowna man had a less than comfortable stay in Kelowna cells Friday morning.

Constable Steve Holmes says police pulled the man over about 2:30 Friday morning, suspecting he was driving while impaired.

Holmes says after stopping his vehicle near the intersection of Spall Road and Enterprise Way, the man jumped from the car and began running from police.

"Police chased the driver on foot and caught up with him in Mill Creek. With help from other responding police officers, the resistant male was brought out of the creek and detained for impaired driving," says Holmes.

"The driver refused to provide samples of his breath when the demand was read and was arrested for refusing to provide a breath sample."

Holmes says the suspect was taken to cells and was released once he sobered up.

"He will face charges of driving while impaired and refusing to provide a breath sample."
