Castanet is first to report that an arrest has been made in connection with the Kelowna murder of Jennifer Shaun Cusworth.
Cusworth's body was found in a ditch at the edge of Swamp Road in 1993. Kelowna RCMP have been relentlessly pursuing her killer.
RCMP recently held a news conference marking the 16th anniversary of Cusworth's murder, which was attended by her parents, Jean and Terry Cusworth, who reside in the Merritt area.
Police stated at the conference that they had the killer's DNA and expressed optimism in cracking the case.
Castanet has learned that a person has been taken into custody and that RCMP will be releasing more details at a press conference on Monday.
When contacted by phone, Terry Cusworth told Castanet that a man was arrested Saturday morning. Terry said police told him the suspect will be charged with first degree murder.
Terry politely refused to give any more information, saying he will make a statement after Monday's press conference.
