Ex Nihilo Winery celebrates the harvest by helping out our local food banks.
One dollar from each bottle sold at the winery during the Okanagan Fall Wine Festival will go to the Lake Country and Kelowna Community Food Bank.
The Central Okanagan Wine Festival runs October 1 to October 11.
Ex Nihilo Winery is opening for the first time to the public for the duration of the festival. The winery’s Visitor Center is currently under construction along with its 7500 square foot winery expansion. A temporary Visitors Center will be open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. throughout the festival.
“Currently local Food Banks are in need. As the harvest Celebration commences, we felt compelled to do what we could to ensure children are not going to school hungry,” says Decoa Harder, Proprietor of Ex Nihilo Vineyards.
“The funds raised will be allocated towards our three children’s programs – Tiny Bundles, Vitality and the Kids Snack Pack Program,” says Lenetta Thordarson, Associate Executive Director for the Kelowna Community Food Bank.
Ex Nihilo Winery is known for its award winning Riesling – Gold Medal Winner at the “2009 Riesling du Monde,” and Merlot – first place at the 2008 People’s Choice Awards. Ex Nihilo is also home to the Rolling Stones “Sympathy for the Devil” Ice wines, which will be available in limited quantities for the festival.
