Following a slower week at the Kelowna blood donor clinic from August 31 to September 3, the community has fallen to second place in the Interior Drive for Life challenge.
So far, Kelowna has reached 102% of its goal. While that may sound like enough to guarantee first place, Prince George is currently sitting at 107% of its goal.
“While of course we’re still happy that we’re above the collection goals we’ve set for the last four weeks, the sad reality is this hasn’t been enough to keep us in the lead,” says Tammie Watson, community development coordinator for the Kelowna blood donor clinic.
“Prince George has once again blazed ahead in the challenge. This week is our chance to win back our lead from our northern competitors.”
Results for Weeks Three and Four show that while Kelowna has collected more units of blood than Prince George, 736 units to PG's 624, the difference comes in target percentages.
Kelowna's target was 720 units, which gives us a Target to Total percentage of 102.2%. PG had a target of 585 units to collect, which gives them a Target to Total percentage of 106.7%.
Appointments may be booked by calling 1-888-2-DONATE (1-888-236-6283).
The Kelowna blood donor clinic is located at 103-1865 Dilworth Drive and is open on the following dates throughout the challenge:
