Police in Vernon are releasing few details after an elderly couple were found dead inside their home Tuesday.
RCMP spokesman, Gord Molendyk, says police were dispatched to the Holiday Park Trailer Court on Lakeshore Drive at about 10 a.m. following a report of shots being fired.
Molendyk says nearby residents were evacuated as a safety precaution.
"Attempts to make phone contact with the residents in the house met with negative results," says Molendyk.
He says police entered the home about 2 p.m. to discover the couple deceased.
"The investigation has learned so far the 71-year-old man was receiving palliative care at the time. He and his 69-year-old wife were living in the home at the time of this incident."
Molendyk says police have yet to determine cause of death.
The investigation is continuing.
No names have been released.
