A forest fire has broken out above the Gorman Brothers mill in the Glenrosa neighbourhood of West Kelowna.
Police have closed off Glenrosa Road to incoming traffic and are evacuating a number of residential streets on the high side of Glenrosa Road.
West Kelowna fire crews have opened up a command post in the Glenrosa fire hall, and the Westbank Community Centre was being suggested as a receiving centre for people.
Fire crews were being drawn in from Kelowna and Peachland, and the Forest Service had at least one tanker reported over the site of the fire.
