Some schools and hospitals in Africa will have to wait a little longer for their first computer systems after the monitors were stolen in West Kelowna last week.

At some point between 9 p.m. June 11 and 8 a.m. June 12, some 31 computer monitors were stolen from vehicle in West Kelowna.

Constable Steve Holmes say the older monitors had been donated by Interior Health to a program sponsored by a local church that ships computers and monitors to Africa for use in schools and hospitals.

“For some of these institutions, this would have been their first computer system. Police have advised all the local pawnshops to be on the lookout for these monitors, most of which still have Interior Health stickers on them,” says Holmes.

He says police are appealing to the person who took these monitors to return them so that they can be used by the institutions who really need them.

“Crimestoppers can be contacted as to where the monitors have been left, hopefully undamaged, assuring the caller’s anonymity.”
