Leon raid leads to stolen property

A raid on a Leon Avenue home has resulted in the seizure of thousands of dollars worth of stolen property.

RCMP, acting on a tip, raided the home at 826 Leon Wednesday.

Police Sgt., Ann Brinnen, says three men and one woman were arrested. Two men, Austin William Murray, 29 and Alexander Dino Tanasescu, 26 have both been remanded into custody.

Both men have been charged with possession of stolen property along with several weapons and drug charges.

"Police are currently sifting through the recovered goods, trying to match them with police files relating to business and residential break and enters in an effort to identify the property," says Brinnen.

Property seized include:
  • A 12-gauge sawed off shotgun
  • Five pellet handguns
  • Three new snowboards
  • Motorcycles
  • Dirt bike helmets
  • Small and big screen TVs
  • Guitars and amps
  • Desktop and laptop computers
  • Jewellery
  • Power tools
  • Dozens of cell phones and IPods
  • Coin collections
  • Cash and a small amount of crystal meth.

Brinnen says police also seized two paintings recently stolen from a Kelowna art gallery worth more than $10,000.
