Multi-car train derailment on CN Rail line near Rayleigh

14 rail cars leave CN tracks

UPDATE: 4:41 p.m.

No injuries or leaks have been reported after 14 potash cars left the tracks Wednesday near Rayleigh, according to CN Rail.

“CN crews are responding to a derailment involving 14 cars loaded with potash near our yard in Kamloops,” CN said in a statement to Castanet.

“There are no dangerous goods involved and no leaks, injuries or fires reported.”

Crews are dealing with a train derailment Wednesday on the CN Rail line near Rayleigh.

Multiple rail cars can be seen off the tracks just south of Rayleigh. A Castanet Kamloops reader sent in photos he snapped at about 11:45 a.m. from the side of Highway 5.

The photos show about a half-dozen cars derailed.

Castanet Kamloops has asked CN Rail for information about the derailment, including how many cars were involved and whether anyone was injured.
