Penticton is one step closer to becoming Hockeyville 2009.
The Peach City is one of the top ten finalists from cities and municipalities all over Canada which competed for the title.
The contest to find Canada’s ultimate hockey community is sponsored by Kraft and seeks the most hockey-enthusiastic community.
The winning community will get to host an NHL preseason game, get a visit from CBC’s Hockey Night in Canada and will receive $100,000 to upgrade their local arena.
A film crew from CBC was in Penticton earlier this month to film footage of a Vees hockey game and judge the hometown crowd.
Now Penticton is one of ten communities vying for the title, other communities include Lincoln, Ontario, Harbour Grace, Newfoundland and Terrace, B.C.
The top five will be decided by the number of votes each community receives. To cast your vote, call toll-free 1-866-533-8066 by 7:30 p.m. E.T. on January 19. For other voting methods, go to the Hockeyville 2009 website.
