RCMP traffic officers got more than they bargained for during a routine road check in Lake Country Tuesday.

In addition to numerous traffic violations, police arrested and charged a man for impaired driving.

Police say the man is alleged to have blown three times over the legal limit of .08.

He was stopped just after 2 p.m.

RCMP also arrested a female for operating a vehicle under the influence of narcotics. A quantity of marijuana was also discovered.

"Her license was suspended and her vehicle was impounded," says Constable, Steve Holmes.

"Central Okanagan Traffic services would like to advise drivers who wish to flagrantly break the law by driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and put their fellow motorists at risk, that road checks will be conducted at all hours in all of the Central Okanagan to reduce harm on our roadways."
