Big White's parachute bowl will be opening this season.

The steep run was the site of a deadly avalanche last year that killed resort employee Leigh Barnier of Australia.

Big White's Michael J. Ballingall says the resort is still waiting for the final report from the coroner's office.

"Our company has yet to hear back from the coroner, we understand they are doing their due diligence and doing their investigation and they will release the findings of the coroner when they are ready."

Meantime, Ballingall says the Parachute Bowl will re-open when conditions permit.

"It is status quo at this time, but it will be very snow specific. The weather pattern and the way it’s shaping up now and what will fall on top of it, these are all determining factors on what the avalanche risk is going to be, of course we want everything to sort of glue together and stick to the side of the mountain."

Ballingall says that Big White hired a consultant immediately after the deadly avalanche.

"These avalanche consultants are world-renowned and sought after world wide, so getting him in the queue was a bit of a drama but he saw the resort in March and he saw the resort again in August and we lived up to his expectations and recommendations."

The coroner's office says it doesn't know when the report dealing with the deadly avalanche will be ready.
