Catching speeders was like picking cherries -- so to speak.
Kelowna RCMP took the unusual step Wednesday of stationing an officer in a cherry picker to identify motorists who were speeding or not wearing seat belts.
The plainclothes officer above the traffic in the cherry picker radioed to police on the ground the nature of the infraction and the offending vehicle.
RCMP took the cherry picker to a number of different high crash and high speed intersections and roadways.
At one intersection, police ticketed half a dozen motorists for rushing traffic lights in a 30 minute period.
