A 32-year-old Kelowna man, who allegedly attempted to lure young women over the Internet, has been charged with sexual exploitation.

Kelowna police would not reveal the man's name, saying only that his Facebook profile name is 'Doc Raymond.'

RCMP Constable, Steve Holmes, says the man's identity will not be made known until his first scheduled court appearance in early February.

The investigation first came to light after the parents of a 14-year-old girl complained to police after discovering explicit dialogue on Facebook.

Police say the girl was one of 146 young women being targeted by the unidentified man, who had been passing himself off on Facebook as a 22-year-old.

According to RCMP, the man was apparently trying to lure the girl into a face-to-face meeting.

"To further the RCMP's investigation, police are releasing his Facebook name, that has no association with his real name or occupation, in an attempt to appeal to the public to identify other young victims who may have been contacted by him with the purpose of sexual exploitation," says Holmes.

"Police are asking the parents of girls aged 11 to 17 to check their children's chat logs in order to determine if any conversations with 'doc raymond' have been logged."

Holmes says if such logs exist, parents should print hard copies and contact police.
