Maxine DeHart will make her political aspirations known Thursday.
DeHart has called a news conference for Thursday morning, at which time it is expected she will announce her intentions to seek the Liberal nomination for the Kelowna-Mission riding.
MLA Sindi Hawkins, has held that seat since 1995.
Hawkins, battling a second bout of leukemia, said Monday she would not seek re-election.
DeHart, a long-time friend of Hawkins, attended Monday's announcement.
At that time, DeHart was non-committal, saying she had made no decisions.
This is nobody's day but her day," said a teary DeHart.
"She's been a friend of mine for 12 years and I'm here to support her. I'm going to go over and give her a big hug and dry my eyes."
It has long been rumoured that DeHart was interested in taking a run at the seat if Hawkins stepped down.
Thursday's announcement will be made at 10 a.m. at the Ramada Hotel.
