The search for a missing Summerland woman has ended on a tragic note.

Jean Roelfsema, 71, disappeared more than a year ago while driving home from Edmonton where she was visiting family.

She was travelling in her van with her three small dogs.

Police discovered human remains last August near the Thompson River north of Kamloops.

Investigators confirm the remains are that of Roelfsema. The cause of death is under investigation, but foul play has been ruled out.

There is no sign of her van or her three dogs.
