A Kelowna company has made a toy which is winning national awards.
Wildwood Media is the company responsible for a line of dolls known as “Little Humbugs.”
The Canadian Toy Testing Council presented the top toys of the year on Friday in Ottawa and gave the “Little Humbugs” a three star rating, which is the Council’s highest level.
“We are honoured to receive this prestigious award from CTTC,” says Marghanita Hughes, the Little Humbug’s creator.
She says the Humbugs are inspired by Canadian wilderness.
“The “Little Humbugs” are a two in one education toy. The Butterfly Girls come in a chrysalis just like a real butterfly and it is also the package they are purchased in thus eliminating the need for wasteful packaging.”
Hughes says there is also a “Little Humbug” book series that involves children on a quest to protect the natural world.
The company has also designed a Dragonfly Boy soft toy that will be featured in the New York Toy Fair in February 2009.
