Lippert remains as Vernon mayor

Wayne Lippert will remain as Vernon’s mayor.

The incumbent mayor beat out his challengers for the top spot with 2,728 votes during the municipal election Saturday, according to preliminary results.

Councillor Juliette Cunningham got 2,363 votes in her race for the mayor's seat. Lippert was ahead of the pack during the majority of the advanced voting.

Rick Thoburn had a total of 825 votes, Antony Stamboulieh had 787, Steve Campbell finished with 538 and Floyd Edwards received 148 votes.

Vernon’s city council will consist of Patrick David Nicol, Buffy Baumbrough, Mary-Jo O’Keefe, Jack Gilroy, Bob Spiers and Shawn Lee.

Nicol got 4,286 votes, Baumbrough 3,976, O'Keefre received 3,886, Gilroy finished with 3,449, Spiers got 3,153 and Lee finished with 3,122 votes.
