Is Angelina Jolie pulling a Joaquin Phoenix? Not really. Although Jolie doesn’t see herself acting for much longer, she may come back to the movie world once in a while. "I don't plan to keep acting very long," she tells the BBC. "I'm ready to do a few things now and fade away and get ready to be a grandma one day."
Did she just say grandma? Gramma Angelina just doesn’t sound right, does it? Weird. Anyway, Jolie goes on to say: "I won't work again probably for another year. So maybe it'll be once a year, then maybe it'll be once every three years." She adds: "I have a lot of children. I have a big responsibility to make sure that they're growing right and that they have got us there for them."
I wouldn’t count on her staying away from movies for too long. Sure, maybe she’ll take some time off, but I can’t see her settling in to a life of domesticity forever. I’ll bet if a sequel for Mr. and Mrs. Smith were to come up, say, 10 years from now and Jennifer Aniston was tied to the project, she’d jump in right away. Never say never…

4 P.M. UPDATE: Bond film doing huge numbers today
I just heard that Quantum of Solace, the new James Bond flick, will end up with a whopping $26 million at the box office today. The film should end the weekend with a huge $70 million weekend take. Wow!
Paula leaving Idol?
There are many reports in the celebrity media today that Paula Abdul’s days as a judge on American Idol are numbered. A Paula insider reveals that, “She knows that every season could be her last. Now she’s got a new secret venture that she’s really excited about.”
What could that secret venture be? We know how her reality show Hey, Paula turned out, so hopefully it’s nothing like that. Could Idol’s hiring of new judge Kara DioGaurdi be a reaction to Paula’s imminent departure? Sounds like a distinct possibility to me. We’ll have to watch what Idol has in store for us this upcoming season, which begins January 13th.
Paula's last year on Idol?
Prison break heads to TV jail – never to be released again
Looks like fans of Prison Break on Fox are out of luck as the show is unlikely to return next season. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show's cast has been told that two additional episodes may be shot after production ends on the series' midseason finale. The trade paper speculates that those two episodes could be a resolution (a nice way of saying ‘the end’) to the fourth year drama.
I never caught on to the show, but I hear it was quite good. Four years is not bad for a Fox drama. Ratings have been sliding significantly over the last two years, which is likely the cause for the cancellation.
They won't escape from this prison
Kanye West arrested again!
Just a few months after he was arrested for attacking a pap in LA, rapper Kanye West has gone and done it again, this time in England. According to the papper, it all went down when Kanye was leaving the club with 4 girls, upset that he was being captured on film. After getting angry, Kanye allegedly got violent - shoving the camera into the snappers face, causing a cut on his nose.
Many reports are suggesting big trouble for Kanye, but TMZ is saying that Kanye will not be charged and has already been cleared from custody. This is becoming a problem for Kanye, who is probably the most arrogant and short-fused star today. He’s arguably a brilliant musician (I say arguably because I don’t like several songs from his upcoming CD, though I really dig the Love Lockdown single), but if he keeps this behavior up ‘Yay is going to lose some fans.
Kanye has no love locked down for the paparazzi
Hilary Clinton to be the next secretary of state?
I’m not a big fan of Hilary Clinton, but I’ll take her over Sarah Palin any day. Looks like Hilary may have a shot at the White House after all, as she is being considered a strong candidate for Obama’s choice as secretary of state. Other people frequently mentioned for the State Department job are Sen. Chuck Hagel, R-Neb., Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., and New Mexico's Democratic governor, Bill Richardson.
If Clinton is chosen, does this mean that SNL will have to bring Amy Poehler out of maternity leave to reprise her role as the New York senator?
Does this mean Hilary can get her own Lewinsky?
Toby returns to The Office next week
After the season’s weakest episode last night, it will be nice to have an old face return to The Office next week. Toby, the former HR person at Scranton, was last seen in traction in a Costa Rican hospital with a broken neck, after a zip-line accident on his third day in Costa Rica. After being shot down by Pam, he resigned and left Dunder Mifflin. Now that Holly has been reassigned and out of the Scranton Branch, it will be interesting to see what role Toby is going to play.
Last night’s TV ratings (courtesy: zap2it.com)
CBS kicked the night off with a 7.7/12 for "Survivor: Gabon," topping the 6.3/10 for "Ugly Betty" on ABC. NBC's "My Name Is Earl" and "Kath & Kim" held off FOX's "Kitchen Nightmares" for third, leaving The CW in fifth with a 2.7/4 for "Smallville."
At 9 p.m. CBS' "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" won the hour with an 11.5/17. That was better than the 10.3/15 for "Grey's Anatomy," but the ABC medical soap won the hour in the 18-49 demographic. NBC was third with "The Office" (4.9/7) and "30 Rock"(4.5/7). FOX's "Kitchen Nightmares" beat the 2.5/4 for The CW's "Supernatural."
Anthony Edwards' return to "E.R." gave NBC a 10 p.m. demographic win, but the show's 6.5/11 was only good for second overall behind the 7.6/13 for CBS' "Eleventh Hour." "Life on Mars" was third with a 6.0/10.
