If advance polling numbers are any indication, Summerland voters could be coming out in droves for Saturday's municipal election.
Nearly 700 people have already cast votes in the two advance polls, an increase of almost 25 per cent over 2005 numbers.
In 2005, 3,917 eligible voters cast ballots in the general election.
According to Chief Election Officer, Gillian Matthews, nearly 8,500 people are eligible to vote based on the current provincial voters list.
With current mayor, David Gregory not seeking re-election, two incumbent councilors, Peter Waterman and Janice Perrino are seeking the top seat on Summerland council.
Thirteen candidates are running for six council seats.
Voters can cast ballots Saturday at either Summerland Secondary School or Giant's Head Elementary School. Both polling stations will be open from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m.
Voters are required to bring two pieces of identification with them. One must contain a signature and a second must prove residency.
