Remembrance Day ceremony

by - Story: 43050

Despite the rain there was an excellent turn-out for the Remembrance Day ceremony at the City Park Cenotaph.

This year's ceremony marks the 90th anniversary of the signing of the WWI armistice.

Members from the Royal Canadian Legion representing WWI & WWII veterans, members from the Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps, the Ogopogo Air Cadet Squadron, local Scout troops, and many friends and family, were on-hand to honour Canada's war veterans. In-all at least three-generations were present.

Wreaths were placed honouring veterans from WWI, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq and and Afghanistan.

Navy Merchant, and Ex-RCMP member Al Brown was acting as one of the drill sergeants for the parade.

"I'm thrilled to see such a turn-out of young people," Brown says. "It doesn't look like the rain kept anyone from coming."
