RCMP are remaining tight lipped about the discovery of a body in a Lakeshore Road apartment unit.
Police issued a release to the media mid-Tuesday morning indicating that they're investigating the discovery of a body found Monday and that they're treating the circumstances as suspicious.
By late Tuesday morning, police carted out a body out of the Imperial Apartment building at 4058 Lakeshore Road, across the street from an RCMP community policing office.
RCMP could be seen guarding the fourth floor of the apartment building while forensic members dressed in white suits shuttled in and out of the unit.
One resident says that police came knocking at her door Monday asking questions about a woman.
Police could not confirm that the victim is a woman.
"We don't want to give rise to speculation as to the identity of the person. Until that has been established, we're not releasing that information," says RCMP spokesman Steve Holmes.
Meantime, Holmes says the residents of the building need not worry.
"At this point in the investigation, we haven't defined the exact circumstances as to what happened but there's no reason for any kind of worry."
It's the second suspicious death police are dealing with in less than two weeks.
Last week, police discovered the body of a woman in a Westside home and are treating Tiffany Mary Fedechko's death as a murder.
The 23-year-old woman's boyfriend, James Gordon Feil, 37, has been charged with second degree murder.
