Looking for Jenn's killer

Three new leads have been investigated in a Kelowna murder case which has been open for 15 years.

Every year, a plea is made for information relating to the murder of Jennifer Cusworth. The 19-year-old was killed in 1993. She was last seen leaving a house party at about 4:30 a.m. on October 16, 1993 and investigators are still looking for clues as to her movements after that.

Corporal Bill Parmer, lead investigator in the case, says as a result of last year’s public plea, three new pieces of information were brought to light.

“Two of them have been concluded and one is still under investigation at this time. In this investigation there are over 500 tips that have been generated, well over 1,000 people have been spoken to and so far everyone has been cooperative,” says Parmer.

He says the party Jennifer attended has always been a starting point for the investigation.

“We’ve confirmed over 150 did attend that party, but every year, information surfaces of people who may have been at that party. The number grows annually. It’s important if you were at that party and you have not spoken with RCMP, please come forward and please come forward now.”

Parmer says it’s possible Cusworth’s killer may have spoken to someone after the act.

“Most crimes of this nature, it’s human nature to talk to someone, whether it’s a friend or a confidant. It’s been 15 years, we are encouraging them to give Jene and Terry Cusworth some peace of mind, some answers about what happened to their daughter. The RCMP is not here to scrutinize why someone has not come forward for 15 years, we aren’t here to judge why you haven’t come forward, we just want you to come forward.”

Illness prevented the Cusworth's from attending Wednesday’s conference about their daughter.
