Kelowna voters will have a lot of names to wade through when they go to the polls to elect a new City Council November 15.

A record 36 people have filed papers to fill one of the eight City Councillor seats. The previous high was 31 candidates for council just three years ago.

There will be at least four fresh faces on council with the retirements of Colin Day, Barrie Clark, Norm Letnick and Carol Gran.

Two more candidates, incumbent Sharon Shepherd and challenger Kim Ouellette are vying for mayor with 10 names appearing on the ballot for school trustee.
