The City of Kelowna is collecting old buildings.
Residents are being asked to nominate local heritage buildings for the Community Heritage Register.
“The Community Heritage Register is about celebrating the history of our community understanding where we’ve been and where we’re going,” says Maria Stanborough, Heritage Planner with the City of Kelowna.
“The Register enables the City to document and recognize historical buildings in Kelowna without restricting property owners.”
She says the City of Kelowna has recently attained funding to supplement the existing registry of local heritage properties.
“Currently, more than 200 properties are listed on the Community Heritage Register.”
Residents interested in having their property or another property considered for the Community Heritage Register should contact Maria Stanborough at 250 469-8584 by October 24.
The Community Heritage Commission will consider each property for inclusion on the Community Heritage Register in November.
