Starting next week, construction will begin on two new structures at Kelowna General Hospital.
The new UBC Medical School Clinical Academic Building and a new parkade will be built in the current Rose Avenue visitor parking lot at the southeast corner of KGH.
The construction, starting October 14, will result in some parking changes:
-The Rose Avenue surface parking lot will be closed to visitors and staff
-Rose Avenue is proposed to become a through street, with traffic flowing east to west, from Pandosy Street to Abbott Street. Two-way traffic flow will be maintained when possible
-The current parkade will be reserved for visitor and staff parking
-The new visitors’ entrance to KGH will be located at the west end of the main lobby
-Signage will be in place to direct visitors from the parkade to the new entrance
-Emergency and patient drop-off can still take place at the existing turnaround off Pandosy Street.
This phase of construction is expected to take approximately 14 months.
