Third trial for Falkland woman

A Falkland woman convicted of killing her husband will stand trial -- again.

Darlene Young is serving a prison sentence for the murder of her husband Skip Payton who was shot to death outside his Falkland home in March, 2002. The couple had been married for only nine months.

The B.C. Court of Appeal has granted Young a third trial because the judge in the last trial made mistakes when instructing the jury.

Young is also serving a prison sentence for the attempted murder of Payton's friend. She is not appealing that sentence.
