Many people have been on a dance floor when they have heard the lyrics "Heyyyyyyyyyy, Do you kiss on the first date?"

Chances are that, if you have been to a hockey game anywhere in Canada you have heard the song "Soul on Ice".

Well, those are two of many hits from Danko Jones.

On Sunday night, die hard rock fans were welcoming Danko Jones to the stage at Flashbacks while many people in Kelowna were heading to bed in anticipation for a early Monday morning meeting or class.

Danko Jones is a rock band, originally from Toronto, that consists of Mr. Danko Jones himself on vocals and guitar, Dan Cornelius on drums and John Calabrese on bass guitar.

Jones at one point in the evening thought it was actually Saturday night. Upon being corrected he asked the rowdy crowd what they were doing there so late on a Sunday night?

There was approximately 250 fans that came out to Flashbacks and, given the show began with the opening act starting at 10 p.m. and Danko Jones hitting the stage at 11:30 p.m., possibly many more would have shown up had the show started a bit earlier.

Regardless, Danko Jones performed a hard, in your face, gritty show. Jones is a powerful front man with a strong voice and opinions. With years of performing together behind them, the band delivered a solid show and great stage presence.

The band has seen great success in Europe and Japan but are still relatively unknowns in Canada.

In 2000, 2003 and 2004 they were nominated for JUNO awards but never went home as winners.

In 2006 they gained the coveted opening spot for Nickleback on their cross Canada tour. This followed with "Baby Hates Me" , from their "Sleep is the Enemy" album, being picked up as the official theme song for WWE Backlash pay per view.

Danko Jones is currently touring in support of their newest album "Never Too Loud" which will have them stop in spots all across Canada before then heading to Dublin Ireland where they are opening for British rock legends Motörhead.
