RCMP in one North Okanagan community had a very busy start to the week.

Two B&Es occurred within minutes of each other in Enderby Monday morning.

Spokesperson for the Vernon RCMP, Gord Molendyk, says the first B&E was reported as a fire alarm going off just before 2 a.m. at the Enderby Pharmacy building.

“When emergency personal arrived on scene what they discovered was a Break and Enter had occurred into the building. Entry was gained through the roof. The suspects brought an acetylene torch in an attempt to gain entry into the safe that was in the building. It was the smoke that was created by attempting to cut a hole in the safe that caused the smoke alarms to go off. The suspects were able to leave the building prior to the police and fire departments attending. It appears they were warned that emergency personal were on their way because they left their scanner and other personal items behind,” says Molendyk.

He says the second B&E was reported just after 2:15 from a resident in the Inch Logan Road area.

“Officers along with a police dog team attended to speak to the property owner. One of the suspects was apprehended close to the property. The second suspect took off on foot. The dog team took up the chase and started on the track of the second suspect. The track ended on Mable Lake Road approximately 10 kilometers away when the dog tracked the suspect right to the police vehicle that had set up a perimeter and had just stopped a male who was walking down the road at that early hour.”

Molendyk says the two men will likely be facing charges in relation to the incidents.
