Double fatal crash in Oliver

A vehicle crash claimed the lives of two South Okanagan men over the weekend.

An orchardist in Oliver discovered a crash scene on his property in the 3100 block of 87th Street around 11:30 Saturday morning.

Corporal Mike Field, says a 2000 Dodge Caravan had gone down an embankment and landed in a ditch near the orchards’ field.

“It is a rural property and the stretch of road is not very frequently travelled, so we believe the incident took place either earlier Saturday morning or later Friday night. Two men, both residents of Osoyoos in their 50s, were pronounced dead on scene,” says Field.

He says the men have been identified, but their names are not being released because the RCMP have had a hard time locating their next of kin.

“The crash is still being investigated and we don’t have a cause as yet. We also can’t tell which man was driving.”
