Ottawa has delivered $104,000 to help the local Women's Enterprise Centre publish a special book.
The book, titled 'New Pioneers', will highlight the accomplishments of 100 B.C. women who run their own businesses. It will also feature articles on women's resource contacts.
Kelowna-Lake Country MP, Ron Cannan, says it's an important initiative.
He notes that 35 percent of Canadian small business is now owned and operated by women, but women continue to face challenges when they try to launch their own business.
The Women's Enterprise Centre hopes to have the book published in time for Small Business Week in October.
