There's been a spike in vehicle thefts.

Vernon police say from August 25th to 31st, 18 vehicles were stolen in an area stretching from Lumby to Armstrong.

At one point 11 vehicles were stolen in a 37 hour period.

"The majority of the vehicles reported stolen were from Vernon and were mainly in the Mission Hill and Bella Vista areas," says RCMP spokesperson, Gordon Molendyk. "We are asking for the public's help to identify the thieves."

Molendyk says the vehicles being targeted are late 80’s early 90’s Camry’s, late 90’s Ford trucks, Nissan Pathfinders and Toyota 4-Runner SUV’s.
