Beaverdell murder investigation
by Wayne Moore - Story: 41575
Sep 4, 2008 / 2:30 pm

RCMP are investigating the murder of a 50-year-old man in Beaverdell.

Police say they were called to a residence on Solomon Mountain Road Wednesday after a family member found the man's body.

The name of the deceased has not been released.

RCMP Constable, Annie Linteau, says at this time, there is no connection between the murdered man and the large marijuana bust north of Beaverdell earlier in the day.

"We routinely share information with other police officers, but at this time, there is no information to suggest there is any link," says Linteau.

She says the crime does not appear to be a random act, although Linteau adds it is too early in the investigation to be able to say if the victim knew his assailant.

Linteau says there are no suspects at the present time.

"We are still in the very beginning stages of our investigation."

Police have secured the scene and are treating the death as a homicide.

The investigation is being headed up by members of the South-East District Major Crime Unit and Midway RCMP.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Midway RCMP, 250-449-2244, or Crime Stoppers.
