Going for a walk in Vernon will help raise money to fight Parkinson’s disease.
On September 13, the public is invited to take part in the SuperWalk for Parkinson's at Polson Park in Vernon to raise funds for a cure.
SuperWalk for Parkinson's is a major fund raising event that takes place in 80 locations across Canada, including nine communities in British Columbia.
"Our nine volunteer walk organizers around the province are working very hard to surpass last year's outstanding success," says Diane Robinson, Executive Director of Parkinson Society British Columbia.
"We raised $225,000 in 2007 which was the most ever raised since the start of SuperWalk in BC 13 years ago, and we are determined to exceed that number in September."
Parkinson's is the second most common chronic neurological disorder, after Alzheimer's.
In BC, an estimated 7,000 people suffer from Parkinson's.
