A man has lost two of his limbs following an accident in the South Okanagan over the weekend.

The 29-year-old man from Fort McMurray was driving a motorcycle on Highway 3 near Sumac Road between Cawston and Osoyoos Friday night when the bike crossed over the centre lane and sideswiped an oncoming vehicle.

The driver was air-lifted to Kelowna Hospital.

Police say the man is recovering after his left arm and leg were severed in the collision.

Speed is also believed to have been a factor and the highway was closed for two and a half hours Friday night.

The man’s name is being withheld until police investigate further.
