Stolen plate leads to drugs

A stolen licence plate led police to a drug bust in Vernon.

About 4 p.m. Tuesday, an officer was on patrol when they located a vehicle with a stolen Saskatchewan plate in a parking lot on the 3400 block of 35th Avenue.

As additional officers converged on the location, the suspect drove away in an attempt to evade police, but was safely contained and arrested, says Vernon RCMP spokesperson Const. Chris Terleski.

The driver was searched and found to have a quantity of drugs in his possession.

A further search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of additional methamphetamines, fentanyl, and cocaine.

The driver, David Macintosh, 30, of Vernon, has been charged with three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, plus several driving offences.

MacIntosh made an initial appearance in court on Wednesday and was released pending his next court appearance on Feb. 23.

Police are continuing their investigation.
