Things were brought under control quickly at a small forest fire that began burning in the Gallagher's Canyon area of East Kelowna Tuesday afternoon.
Kelowna Fire crews were called out just after 2 p.m. to the blaze on the Myra Forestry Service Road, not far from Gallagher's Canyon Golf Course.
Two tanker airplanes from Penticton were dispatched and they dropped fire retardant blanketing the area that was just over one hectare in size.
Two helicopters and grounds crews continued to drop water on hot spots and fight the remaining flames from the ground for several hours.
Elise Riedlinger from the Kamloops Fire Centre says quick action by all the firefighters involved prevented things from growing quickly.
No houses were damaged according to Riedlinger and no cause has been determined at this time.
