To the editor:
Getting up this morning we found a Bylaw Ticket on the window of our car parked out in front of our house on Morrison Avenue. "Angle Parked in a Parallel Zone" to the tune of $30.00 issued by a Bylaw Officer. Actually, every car on the street was ticketed. Under cover of darkness (ticket was issued after 10:00 PM) the officer slid in and out while the tired taxpayers lay sleeping in their beds.
I kind of wish someone would have told us when we moved here that there was a bylaw for that. Since everyone parked that way, we just blended in with the rest and never gave it another thought. There would have been no room for us to do otherwise. Without any posted sign we just assumed that parking space in front of our house could actually be used by us.
I know, ignorance of the law is no excuse but could the City have maybe made an announcement of some type? A flyer or a couple of lines on Castanet? Maybe one of the next officers that the City hires could be a Public Relations Officer? I know we just lost a lot of respect for this particular officer.
