To the editor:
What is wrong with this town? I have been reading a lot of letters to the editor about how people are moving away from here and I have to say I don’t blame them one bit. To add to the many issues already, here’s mine.
I recently graduated from a business course where we were taught to work in and run an office. Out went the resumes and cover letters in hopes of finding the job that would allow me to use the skills I learned in school. Unfortunately this is not to be. According to many businesses I have been in contact with, most will not hire personnel with less than 2 – 3 years of experience behind them in that field.
Being fresh out of college, with the words of our instructors saying how easy it would be to be employed with our skills, I was totally disappointed. The sad part is I know of people with degrees that are working in fast food restaurants because “they don’t have experience.”
How are we supposed to gain experience if no one is willing to hire us? I spent good money on my course and I would like to feel like it wasn’t a total waste of time.
