Gerstmar community spirit
To the editor: On Tuesday, July 19th, 2008 community spirit was at its best in Rutland at 115 Gerstmar Road! An appalling and despicable case of animal cruelty had brought together the families in our complex to put on a fund-raising car wash to contribute to the costs the SPCA was going to incur for the medical treatment of the animal. Our families waved cars into the complex, made phone calls and sent out invitations. Wonderful sandwiches, baking, iced tea and candies, all prepared by the families, were offered to the patrons while they waited for their car wash. All in all, our families, more in particular the teens in the complex, raised $380! Way to go! Talk about community spirit! We're proud of you!
