A 58-year-old Osoyoos man was crushed by his own car while attempting to push it off Highway 3.

Osoyoos RCMP say the full size 80's sedan broke down on Highway 3 near the base of Anarchist Mountain about 11 a.m. Tuesday.

The vehicle apparently had mechanical difficulties and came to rest partially blocking the highway.

"The driver had been on his way to pick up a friend who saw him stop. The two attempted to push the car off the road when the driver lost his footing while pushing the drivers' door," says Corporal, Dan Moskaluk.

"Several passing motorists stopped to assist and partially jacked the car up and literally lifted the vehicle off of the man in order to pull him out from under the front wheel."

Moskaluk says the unidentified man was later pronounced dead at South Okanagan Regional Hospital in Oliver.
