Wednesday night, while parents were down the street at Prospera Place to see James Taylor, their kids could probably be found at Kelowna Community Theatre.
Especially if they were young teenage females.
Hedley is a punk rock quartet that is known for their lead singer Jacob Hoggard, who placed third during the second season of Canadian Idol in 2004.
Hoggard has had the most successful post-Idol career of any contestant in terms of album sales.
The band originated in Abbotsford, BC and was named after the town of Hedley, BC. The name was chosen after the original band members heard that the town was for sale at a mere $346,000.
While the idea of buying the town ran its course, the name remained.
After Hoggard finished the Canadian Idol series, he signed with Universal Records and replaced the original members to make the current band.
Hedley consists of Jacob Hoggard (Lead Singer), Tommy Mac (Bass), Dave Rosin (Guitar) and Chris Crippin (Drums).
In 2005 they released their first self titled album. Their debut single "On My Own" reached number 1 on the Canadian Singles Chart. Other singles include "321", "Trip", "Street Fight" and "Gunnin" have all had great radio success.
Their first single "She's So Sorry", from their new album "Famous Last Words", has achieved success on the MuchMusic Countdown. Their current single, "Never Too Late" is climbing the charts.
Hedley emerged the big winners at the 2008 MuchMusic Video Awards in Toronto, Canada. The Canadian band scooped four top awards at the ceremony, including Best Video for their single "For The Nights I Can't Remember" and Best Rock Video for "She's So Sorry".
Hedley delivered a loud, fast paced, energized show.
Hoggard spent the evening energetically moving about the stage, pausing only occasionally, as he showed why he placed so high in Canadian Idol with a voice that was solid and a stage presence that had the young females screaming.
