James Taylor, 60, one of the most recognized warm baritone voices in popular music, embodies the art of song writing in its most essential form.

Taylor brought this tour of insightful and tender songs to a near capacity crowd at Prospera Place last night.

With hits as "Fire and Rain", "You've Got a Friend", "Mexico", "Something in The Way She Moves", "Sweet Baby James" and many more, Taylor, sans opening band, delivered over two hours of solid entertainment.

His career began in 1968 when he was signed to the Beatles' Apple Records.

Taylor has sold over 40 million albums throughout the course of his long career, has earned 40 gold, platinum and multi-platinum awards and five Grammy Awards.

He was honoured with the 1998 Century Award, Billboard Magazine's highest accolade, bestowed for distinguished creative achievement.

In 2000, Taylor was inducted into both the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame and the prestigious Songwriter's Hall of Fame.

In February 2006, The National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences selected Taylor its MUSICARES Person of the Year.

Born in Boston, raised in North Carolina and now living in Massachusetts, Taylor has been married three times, most famously to singer Carly Simon. They were divorced in 1983 after a decade of marriage.

He has seven-year-old twins, Rufus and Henry, with his third wife Caroline Smedvig. Rufus and Henry are travelling with Taylor across Canada during their school vacation.

His cross Canada tour showcases his work and highlights the musicians who share the stage with him. The band includes legendary drummer Steve Gadd, percussionist Luis Conte, trumpet player Walt Fowler and Lou Marini, a founding member of the Blues Brothers band.
