Hummingbird Beach Resort is the new beach front resort on Mara Lake. A unique presentation of cottages, cabins and town homes, Hummingbird is a completely different approach to the now typical Okanagan multi-story condominium.
Hummingbird was designed to appeal to vacationers who are looking for an easy, uncomplicated holiday experience that emphasizes happy family experiences on the Shuswap lakes. Tucked away from the busyness of life, it is located near the Town of Sicamous, the houseboating capital of Canada.
Hummingbird provides family vacationers with a reasonable entry cost recreational home option that was designed with high architectural integrity and quality to provide comfort and ease of access without having to break the bank of the buyer. The ultimate objective is for buyers to be able to invest in their family.
“Hummingbird is a very personal project for me” says George Crookshank, vice president of rareEarth Project Marketing who are marketing this unique project. “My family has been a part of this community for over ten years now – we vacation here every summer. Hummingbird is exactly the type of development that my family, the Mara Lake community and the town of Sicamous have wanted to see developed for years.
With its warm year-round climate, excellent fishing, horseback riding, water skiing and houseboating, Hummingbird Beach Resort offers families a quality alternative to the frenzy of activity commonly found at high-density resort properties. Hummingbird provides a quieter, simpler way of life for those wishing to escape and spend their summers with their family in quiet retreat from the busyness of the big city.

WestJet Airlines will begin servicing the Kamloops airport and nearby Sun Peaks Resort year-round starting December 15, 2008. The Calgary-Kamloops flight coincides with the start of the Sun Peaks Resort ski season and the peak traffic months for Kamloops Airport. It is also the time that a co-founder of WestJet and a former executive of the airline and his three partners are starting their own charter service called New Air & Tours. One of their first announcements was servicing the Kamloops area during the Christmas holidays to Edmonton and Calgary.

Mission Hill Family Estate and Wine Access magazine announced a series of culinary and wine evenings in Canada's premier restaurants this summer. The winemaker's dinners in Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver are in honour of Mission Hill's Winery of the Year award by Wine Access, long considered Canada’s foremost authority on wine and food.
As part of the celebration, Mission Hill's premium wines, will be offered for tasting along with a limited allotment of futures for sale, including the Bordeaux-inspired, iconic blend, Oculus and the Select Lot Collection range, which are highly allocated and can be found in top restaurants and wine boutiques around the world.
"These dinners are the perfect marriage of the best in Canadian food and
wine. What better way to celebrate our award for premier winery in the nation then by a coast to coast set of dinners at the best dining establishments in the country? We look forward to sharing our finely crafted Okanagan wine paired with fresh, local cuisine - true harmony on the plate and palate," according to Dan Zepponi, President, Mission Hill Family Estate.
"At Wine Access we put a great deal of energy into the Canadian Wine
Awards as we seek to evaluate and discover Canada's finest wines. In 2007
Mission Hill Family Estate stood above all other wineries claiming the coveted Canadian Winery of the Year award and we are delighted to be able to join proprietor Anthony von Mandl and President Dan Zepponi and share with Canadians what it takes to be the best in Canada," said Anthony Gismondi, Editor-in-Chief, Wine Access magazine.
