Police were called to investigate reports of a robbery at the Shoppers Drugs on 27th Street in Vernon Wednesday morning.

"A male entered the store, went to the drug counter and pointed a gun at the clerk and demanded prescription drugs," says RCMP spokesperson Gordon Molendyk. "A quantity of drugs were handed over to the suspect, and he fled the store."

Molendyk says the suspect was described as a 25 year old male wearing a white hat and a white zip-up sweater, with black shorts.

"Police were on the scene within minutes," says Molendyk. "A male and female were found and arrested near Justice Park within minutes of the robbery."

The male driver was found to be in possession of a pellet gun. The gun was seized and will be destroyed. The vehicle the two suspects were driving was uninsured.

The vehicle was impounded and the driver now faces a charge under the Motor Vehicle Act.

The investigation continues.
