The Canada Day celebrations at City Park in Kelowna went off without a hitch.
Festivals Kelowna Artistic Director, Janet Anderson, says everything happened as planned.
"There were no medical problems, all the bands showed up - we had kind of an open line-up - the cultural dance demonstration in Prospera place was excellent. We were very pleased with all performances."
Anderson says they had a strong turnout and expects when the numbers are in that the turnout will be better than last year's.
She says there were a few tense moments when the wind kicked up shortly before the fireworks were supposed to go off.
"There was a little bit of concern when the wind kicked up and when we saw how strong it was getting. We were in constant contact with the fireworks provider throughout and he was confident the wind would die down, and sure enough, it did."
Anderson says they worked with Skyline Fireworks to put extra money and planning in to give Kelowna something special.
"We really wanted to put on a great display this year so some extra effort and extra budget was put into it."
