Another forest fire in the Central Okanagan.
This one in the Fintry area of the Westside. It was reported late Wednesday morning.
B.C. Forest Services spokesman, Dale Bojahra, says a number of calls have come into his office from people in the area.
"We have had about 40 calls reporting the fire, so we definitely know it's there. We immediately dispatched two initial attack crews, two helicopters and we put in an air tanker request," says Bojahra.
He says the tanker request was subsequently cancelled.
"That leads me to believe they feel they can deal with it with the helicopter support they have on site."
Bojahra says it is too early to know exactly how large the fire is.
"We're in the very early stages of this fire."
A forest fire in the Gillard Creek area above Chute Lake Road is under control.
That fire started as a result of lightning early Monday morning.
