An elderly man who tried to do a good deed was repaid by being stabbed in the neck.

The 85-year-old man was stabbed and robbed after picking up a hitchhiker on Highway 97 near the Kelowna International Airport around 11 p.m. Tuesday.

Constable Julie Rattee says the man drove the suspect to the parking lot of the Coopers Plaza in Lake Country.

She says once in the parking lot, the victim was stabbed in the neck and thrown from his vehicle. The suspect left the scene in the victim’s vehicle and last seen heading up Beaver Lake Road.

Police have no description of the suspect.

The stolen vehicle is a blue 1987 Dodge Ram pickup truck.

The man is in stable condition at Kelowna General Hospital.

Anyone with information is asked to contact RCMP or Crime Stoppers.

Rattee says anyone seeing the vehicle should not approach the suspect but should call police or 9-11 immediately.
