Cruelty to animals

Many people may question, what does homeopathic medicine or any form of medicine have to do with animal cruelty. Considering that, the perpetrators of animal cruelty are very sick and in many cases, this type of sickness is worse than cancer and may be just as hard to cure.

In the past few weeks, I have read, seen and heard first hand many acts of animal cruelty and to me it is loathsome. Beyond what my personal feelings are however, it occurred to me that, maybe the individuals involved are not bad people but may in fact suffer from a deep inner sickness not just mental but psychically and physically.

Possibly someone you already know or work with has beaten their dog or abused another animal and you do not even suspect it seemingly they are fine on the outside, but feel helpless and cowardly on the inside. Of course, it is much more complex than that and at the same time, it is that simple.

The question then, can homeopathy help individuals stop committing cruel acts. The answer is, probably not, the real benefit of homeopathic medicine in this situation may in fact be for the animal victims to help with the emotional trauma and physical pain. Imagine you were a dog that were left abandoned, tethered to a chain for a week or longer at a time, no water, no food left to sit and lay in your own feces. I would imagine that you would be traumatized beyond emotional repair.

Imagine you were a Rottweiler living in some Kelowna crack house, never taken for a walk, continually exposed to loud music, violence, crack and abuse. It is a good life for a crack head but not a dog for a dog, it is a torturous traumatic hell.

The above examples are the common examples of what kind of cruelty is happening in Kelowna even as you read this. There are other unspeakable and unimaginable acts but you are starting to get a clear picture. These animals can be helped with homeopathic medicine the owners of these animals however, may be beyond any conventional help except extreme drug therapy a lobotomy or shock therapy.

For these abused animals, homeopathic medicine along with kindness and love will go a long way to heal the wounds of the emotional trauma and animals respond very well to homeopathy. It is easy to administer and extremely safe and cruelty free, unlike some conventional drugs.

Of course, your animal does not have to be suffering from the effects of abuse other emotional situations are excellent candidates for homeopathic treatment. Fear of thunderstorms, travel related trauma, accident, abandonment issues and so on will also benefit from the administration of homeopathic remedies.

In the past, I have written about homeopathic treatment for various maladies that affect animals and in the past, I have received many calls and e-mails about me not being a veterinarian. That, I can assure you I am not, a vet that is. I am however very concerned about the welfare of animals and I am confident that homeopathic medicine can play a major role in many situations.

Here are a few remedies that will serve you well in many situations where animals are involved. Aconite is excellent where sudden trauma or shock from an accident is present and fear of thunderstorms.
Arnica is excellent for physical trauma such as just being hit by a car, kicked, or in a fight and so on.

Rhus tox is a good remedy for muscle stiffness and pain in older dogs.
In society, there is never an easy black and white answer to any particular issue, especially where animals are involved. It could be a community divided over the culling of rabbits or horse slaughterhouses or abandoned kittens. We have to realize that all of these types of situations and actions are connected to us as humans and unbelievably, we will be the ones that ultimately pay the price. My dissertation may be too lengthy for this column on this particular subject but just know homeopathy can heal and ease abused, frightened and sick animals.
