Heavy police presence Monday night at Orchard Park Mall due to fake gun

RCMP respond to BB gun

Close to a dozen RCMP officers were called to Orchard Park Mall Monday evening after a BB gun was mistaken for a handgun.

Emergency Health Services were called to Orchard Park just before 5 p.m. for reports of an overdose.

Kelowna RCMP Const. Mike Della-Paolera tells Castanet EHS was called after a man passed out in a washroom.

Upon arrival EHS saw what appeared to be a firearm, prompting the heavy police presence.

The alleged handgun turned out to be a toy BB gun.
